Gina Lombardi
Name: Gina Lombardi
Age: 42
Hometown: Milwaukee, WI
Membergroup: Resort Staff-Director of Guest Relations
Family: Jim Briggs (father, WI), Erin Briggs (sister, WI), Daniel Lombardi (ex-husband, WI), Bill Garnet (boyfriend, currently in WI on business but usually on the island with her)
Personality: Gina is a stronger leader and always has been. Her employees find her tough but fair. She is the first person to show them appreciation. She’s personable and friendly, but keeps people at a distance.
History: Gina was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI. Her mother left the family when she was very young, and her father raised both she and her sister.
Gina graduated from high school and went on to college at Notre Dame. She found that she didn’t really know what she wanted to do with her life, but the corporate world seemed easy enough. Her younger sister said she was good at telling people what to do, so Gina majored in human resources so that she could get paid for telling people what to do.
Fortunately, the field allowed her to get a job right out of college. Gina found she was incredibly successful, and started moving right up the corporate ladder.
At 35, Gina was hired as the director of human relations for a Milwaukee department store chain. It was then that she realized she had reached the peak of her career. She needed to focus on something else-marriage.
Gina had never had a problem with men, but even she was surprised when the president of the chain took notice at her during a corporate meeting. Daniel Lombardi spent a fortune wooing her. He flew her across the country for elaborate dinners, took her on expensive weekend getaways, and lavished her with fancy jewelry. So when Daniel proposed, Gina accepted immediately.
Dan and Gina had the perfect marriage for five years…until everything began to unravel. Gina knew that it wasn’t her fault. The world had started to work against them as it happened in so many marriages. But she had to admit that the outcome was her fault.
In the case of Gina and Daniel’s, it was the stress of the job. Consumers were changing how they shopped, and department stores were becoming a thing of the past. Daniel spent all of his time attempting to save the chain. Gina was just as consumed by business he. That was why one night, Daniel sent her to a business function for him while he went out of town. That was the night that sealed everyone’s fate.
Gina was joined at the event by Daniel’s vice president, Bill Garnet. Bill was two years younger than she and seven years younger than Daniel. The two had always hit it off, but now they were able to work together. By the end of the night, the two had successfully landed an investor who promised to save the department store chain and all of their jobs.
Bill and Gina decided to celebrate with a few drinks. After too many shots of tequila, Bill finally asked Gina what she had ever seen in an old man like Daniel. Gina drunkenly babbled about loving him, having once had a good marriage, but she lost all of that when Bill kissed her. It was the first moment she knew that she could really lose herself in a man’s kiss.
It was only hours later when her sobriety started to surface that she realized she had done more than kiss a man who was not her husband.
Gina assured Bill that there could be nothing else between them. She was married, and this was a onetime fling. She could not see him again-despite the fact that she could not get him out of her head. It was obvious that she felt the same as he was always near her at meetings and events. Temptation is a nearly impossible beast to fight-so Gina gave up the war.
She knew that it was wrong-so wrong. She was sleeping with her husband’s business partner. Worse yet, she was falling in love with him. Was this how people met their soulmates? She had never believed in it before, but Bill made her think it was true. He pushed for her to leave Daniel, but Gina couldn’t. Daniel had been good to her. He was a good man. Maybe she could fix things. Maybe if she was honest, Daniel would forgive her.
But she simply could not keep her hands-off Bill-nor could she bring herself to say that Daniel was the man she truly wanted. One night, while the two presumed they were alone in the office, Daniel entered Gina’s office to find them kissing. Furious, he fired them both on the spot.
What came next was the darkest period of her life. Gina isolated herself, focusing solely on finding herself a new job. It took her little to no effort, but she felt nothing good about it. She had lost her marriage, and guilt was bringing her to isolate herself away from any friends and family.
It was her sister Erin who finally intervened. She advised that if Gina truly loved Bill, she should go to him. Sometimes things worked out in unusual ways. If she and Bill were meant to be, then it would find a way. Gina wondered if too much time had passed, or if she was just destined to be a cheater her entire life. But at the end of the day, she knew that she had to at least try.
Bill was understandably shocked to find her on his doorstep, but he had been a bit of a mess himself. He loved her, and she loved him, and from that night on it was the two of them-forever.
However, their social circle in Milwaukee was not as forgiving as the two would have liked. Gina was growing tired of being the subject of their gossip. Bill suggested that they find work away from it all. Gina was the first to stumble across a position-Director of Guest Relations at Red Kauri Resort. She was not 100% certain that it would be a permanent move, but they figured it would at least give them time to figure out where they wanted to be.
Gina and Bill picked up and moved off to the island. Bill had not yet resolved all of his business matters in the States so he could not remain on the island full time. He was in the process of flying back and forth to Milwaukee to finalize it.
On his last night on the island, he and Gina went to dinner. She realized it was one of the most romantic nights of her life. When he prepared to leave in the morning, Bill promised her that he would come back with something that would seal their relationship forever. Gina spent most of the next day wondering if he was planning to propose. But before she could find out, all Hell broke loose…trapping her on the island.
Since the outbreak, Gina loses herself in her memories of Bill. Her only goals are to survive, get off of this island, and reunite with her true love.
